How to Choose Paint Colors

  1. Create a color scheme for your entire home. What’s the mood you are looking for? Google or Pinterest color schemes

  2. Any color can look good, in the right tone. Tone vs Shade

  3. Buy the better quality paint

  4. Sample, sample, sample!

  • Look at the bottom, darkest color on the chip. (Give example of blue.)

  • Look at the chips next to white

  • different times of day

  • on multiple walls

  • BIG samples

  • Don’t be afraid to paint the ceiling the same wall color

  • Pick the lighter version of the color you are looking at. It will look darker once on the walls

  • Samplize website

5. Pay attention to the sheen

6. Consider the undertones, lighting, flooring, outside too. (Like if you have a lot of trees, that will impact how the color looks!)

7. PRIME

8. Don’t be scared! It’s only paint!

9. You have to live with it, YOU have to love it! Don’t be afraid of a phase one.

10. Don’t cheap out on your tools. Get good quality rollers (velour, foam, microfiber, fuzzy), angled brushes, HANDy Paint Cup
