Fall Organizing Made Easy

Think “SPACE”! Sort, Purge, Assign, Contain, and Evaluate.

Fall Decluttering:

  1. Before you start

    1. Starting is the hardest part

    2. Set a goal

    3. Pick a staging area

    4. Know that it gets worse before it gets better

  2. Hot Spots to Tackle for Fall:

    1. Papers

      • Don’t keep bills after you’ve paid them!

      • Don’t keep receipts, except for items you may return or that have an active warranty (but warranties do expire, so check to make sure you’re not keeping expired warranties!)

      • Do keep tax returns and documentation for 3-7 years, but you can scan all your receipts, W2s, etc. and keep the digital files instead of papers

    2. Closet - seasonal switch over

      1. Do it with a friend!

      2. Categorize - get it all

      3. Do you have multiples of something where one would be sufficient?

      4. Backward hanger trick

      5. Lay out all of your clothes in one place

      6. Being picky is okay, keep what your love

    3. Garage and Basement (Lawn care, summer sporting goods and activities for winter)

    4. Kids Clothes

    5. Toys - Christmas is coming!
