With the new year just around the corner, the best way to get that fresh start feeling in your home is with a good old declutter! In this episode, Emily is sharing three steps to declutter your home and life for the new year.

Highs and Lows

Kimmy - High: Cleaning Routine consistency! Low: Always Wanting More

Bre - two highs: New bathroom mirror isn’t broken, and getting the countertop early!

Emily - Low: kid’s sickness, High: Buying a house!

3 Decluttering Strategies for a Fresh Start to the New Year

  • Start with Why. What’s your deeper motivation?

  • The “How”

  1. Make a plan

  2. Start in a small area

  3. Follow the steps: SPACE (Sort, Purge, Assign, Contain, Evaluate)

  4. Build up your muscles

  • Make it Stick

  1. Habit stacking - attach the new habit to an established one!

  2. Track your progress

  3. Make adjustments as needed

  4. Designate a “Donation Drop Zone” and empty it regularly - don’t let it pile up!

  5. There’s no “finish line,” it’s an ongoing process
